Bitcoin transaction fees dropped to 8 sat/vB but casinos still charging 0.0005 BTC withdrawal fees

Network fees have been sitting at 8-12 sat/vB for the past week, which means actual transaction costs are around 0.00002 BTC ($1.40). Yet I'm seeing withdrawal fees of 0.0005 BTC ($35) at multiple casinos.

Current fees I've verified:

  • Wild Casino: 0.0005 BTC
  • Super Slots: 0.0004 BTC
  • Cafe Casino: 0.0005 BTC
  • BetWhale: 0.0003 BTC

That's 15-25x the actual network cost. I get that casinos need to cover processing overhead, but this markup seems excessive when the mempool is practically empty. Anyone seeing better rates elsewhere?

Been tracking this too. BetOnline dropped their fee to 0.0002 BTC last month when fees crashed, but most others haven't budged.

The frustrating part is these same casinos were quick to raise withdrawal fees when the mempool was congested in March. Now that it's cleared up, radio silence on adjustments.

Ignition Casino still at 0.0005 BTC too. At least their payouts are fast - usually processed within 2 hours.

I think some of this is intentional. Higher withdrawal fees discourage frequent small cashouts, which probably saves them on administrative costs.

That said, Lucky Creek has been competitive at 0.0001 BTC for months now. Their processing takes 4-6 hours but the fee structure is more reasonable.

For what it's worth, traditional payment processors charge casinos 3-5% + fixed fees. Even at 0.0005 BTC, that's still cheaper than credit card withdrawals if you're cashing out $500+.

The markup is definitely steep, but I've noticed some casinos adjust fees based on withdrawal amount. Slots.lv charges 0.0005 BTC for withdrawals under $1000, but drops to 0.0003 BTC above that threshold.

Also worth considering that most casinos batch transactions. They're not sending individual payments immediately - they collect multiple withdrawals and send them in batches every few hours. This actually reduces their per-transaction costs even further.

Pro tip: Some casinos offer fee discounts based on VIP level. I'm Silver at Wild Casino and my withdrawal fee dropped from 0.0005 to 0.0003 BTC.

Still higher than network costs, but every bit helps. Also, if you're making larger withdrawals ($2000+), the percentage impact becomes negligible.

Honestly though, this is why I've been using Litecoin more often. Network fees are consistently under $0.10 and most casinos charge 0.01-0.02 LTC (around $2-4) for withdrawals.

Good points on VIP levels and alternative coins. I've been loyal to Bitcoin for the liquidity advantages, but LTC withdrawal fees are definitely more reasonable across the board.

Just checked mempool.space again - we're still at 9 sat/vB. If fees stay this low through the month, I might start reaching out to casino support directly. Some of the smaller operators like Shazam Casino have been responsive to feedback in the past.

The batching point is spot on too. These casinos are probably paying 0.00005 BTC per withdrawal after batching multiple transactions.
